| Kyley, So, we were some of the many residents here in Connecticut that got crushed by the early snowfall. We had two large trees down that barely missed our house and we now have power after 10 days without. This past weekend was one of heavy lifting as I had to break down and clear the two large trees which involved chainsaw work for the main cutting and then knife work on the brush and trimming the trunk segments. I relied on my two custom knives, one of which was your Forrester-XL, and let me tell you I put your knife through its paces. Absolutely amazing performance, cutting, some batoning. Anyway, this was heavy knife work for real and your knife came through with flying colors. Which these days I guess is still All-Blacks black with a silver fern. Anyway, thanks again for an amazing tool Dave USA |

WOW! Hi Kyley- first uses...got a college bill for my daughter in same mail batch as knife came in...used knife to open envelope-not expecting it to be the most efficient tool for the task given the thick powerful blade-surprised me -sliced cleanly...went back out to get more mail from the box and noticed the railing by my mailbox was covered in ice(had big ice storm here) and that mailman would need to grasp it to get up my stairs...looked at the 1.0 and thought- why not? Flipped over to grip handle backwards to hit the sharp side edge of the spine against the ice to chip it away and immediately thought 2 things-how comfortable and secure handle was still in my hand held this way-and what an efficient tool it was for this task-snapping my wrist with each blow i could feel the weight-good weight- help the momentum of my swing even in such a short blade.. Hitting thick hard ice and holding blade backwards i knew the torque of the blow would try to wrestle the blade from my hand-but-rock solid-no movement due to great handle...used the blade to scape the now broken ice off the railing-worked great. Stopped to think that a workhouse blade like this may often be used for scraping and having that sharp edged spine(ie not rounded) - was almost like having a second blade built into the knife...and the thickness of the blade really made this "scraper" very powerful and useful. Phone rang and got on a 45 min call and had put the knife down covered with ice melt-thought no worries-its d2 of course I used it to cut every damn thing the rest of the night...used to slice hard cheese and hard salami for a snack had also done the day before with a BM 940...amazing difference...even with shorter blade MUCH easier with the 1-0 .convex rules and strong handle set up made it work better...poked through heavy plastic laundry detergent bottle to test point-and MUCH better than expected with the thick blade-great blade geometery...stabbed and sliced the thing into nothing in seconds....reached into fridge for a beer in a packed fridge with a hard cardboard sixpack box that would have required me to wrestle the whole box out of the fridge instead of yanking one out of the top-1-0 comes to the rescue-just sliced down the side edge of the six pack holder using only the belly of the blade and pulled beer out sideways rather than up and out-save the day, quenched my thirst! my son was over and we need to cut some relatively thick copper wire cables...he grabbed for an old "OTHER KNIFE" that was hanging on the workbench...I handed him the 1.0 instead...he looked at me funny...I just smiled...he cut through it like butter and felt the power of the short ,sharp heavy dutty blade...he smiled...had him cut some more with the srk so he could see the difference...could not get through it with the srk at all-which i had guessed...had him put all his weight on the srk and then on the 1.0 into the thick wooden edge of our workbench..he saw how much more powerfull the shorter, better designed 1.0 handle and stout blade were at transfering power than the longer bladed, longer handled srk was...had to put some old broken glass window pains in the trash but need to break them down further...put on a pair of gloves, sheathed the 1.0, choked up on the grip, turned my back to the glass and and used the pommel extending and inch or so beyond my hand to break the glass-easy-safe...used spine again to scrape all the broken edges from the sash-again thankful for the sharp, thick, spine edges As you can tell, I like the 1.0- like it alot - thanks for such a wonderful design!!! Knife: 8.5" Forrester Camp Knife in O1
Tool Steel
Hi Kyley,
Just a quick note to let you know my forrester arrived.
Awesome blade, I couldn't be happier with it.
First impressions:
much lighter than I was expecting, great for the
backpack.
handle is really solid, micarta feels fantastic in the
hand, little slippy but the handle shape keeps it in the
hand.
The spot you left on the spine for me works a treat-
throws massive sparks off the ferro rod
Super sharp from the start, absolutely lasered through
anything I put in front of it.
I did some free standing cuts on a few fern fronds,
about 2cm diameter but very green. I was surprised to
see that the edge had some visible rolling in several
places. I was a bit surprised as there didn't seem to be
any resistance when cutting through them, the blade went
through them like butter.
I got out the pad and 400 grit, then took it up all the
way to 2500 grit, finished with green compound on the
leather strop. It was SCARY sharp in about 15mins, edge
fully restored, fantastic steel. I then prepared a full
dinner, veg, fruit, meat and performance was amazing.
Processed a heap of cardboard, and some A4 for fun,
still shaving sharp. Then I took it outside and cleared
about 15m of hedge including several tree branches up to
15cm diamater and then cut the whole lot down again to
uniform size for the hell of it.
Still shaving sharp, edge flawless and still able to
slice through a rolled newspaper no problems. Now that
is performance. I wish "SOME OF MY OTHER KNIVES"
performed half as well- and they are more than double
the price.
Gave her a few swipes on the strop once more before
putting her away, ready for the next task, hair popping
sharp.
Thanks again for an awesome tool.

Kyley, I received your 1.0 in D2 steel and I
think that is perfection in form and function. I
have been using it for numerous tasks and it has not
let me down, ever. The blade remains sharp
longer than any knife I have ever had. I saw a YouTube
review about a rough spot on someones blade.
Mine is perfect, both grind and edge could not be
better. I really love this knife. It goes
with me everywhere now. Thank you for your
outstanding skills.
KNIFE, 1.0 in D2 Tool Steel
Anyone looking to upgrade to a remarkably high
performance tool will be astounded by the 1.0's
ability to handle any task within its designated use
range. In short it is about as close to
perfection as it gets from a man made tool.
Truly outstanding and thank you for creating it.
Looking forward to the next amazement,

Hi Kyley,
Knife: 6.5" O1 Prototype Utility Bowie
Just got back from an epic trip to Mt Everest Base
Camp. In all my years of hunting, fishing and
camping Ive never experienced such harsh
conditions. Extreme cold, no vegetation, just ice,
rock and snow, with 50% less oxygen than at sea
level it was a battle just to breathe at times.
While we might have struggled at 1800ft, the CKC I
carried with me (everyday for 22days), didnt even
flinch. The awesome blade was beautiful just to hold
and admire. The Sherpa guides were certainly
impressed with this little blade even in
comparison to their massive Kukris especially after
we cut through enumerable zip ties and after a few
strops on my compound loaded leather belt, the blade
popped hairs again, they had never seen anything
like it. Although several of them pointed out that
they had cut off the head of a buffalo with one
swipe of their kukri according to ceremonial
tradition, something my blade couldnt do
I didnt get to use the knife as much as would have
liked to up in the thin air as all the cooking was
done for us, there is no wood for fire making, just
dried yak crap and the national park rules meant I
couldnt build a survival shelter with it and sleep
out in -10, something I was really looking forward
to. But being such a solid blade, it gave me comfort
more than anything just knowing it was always within
reach should any situation arise.
I used it extensively in my kitchen before leaving
and despite the thick stock it worked very well on
all sorts of foods, yes even tomatoes. Even though
designed as a combat blade, I would use it and
recommend it to anyone as a general camp knife as it
cut so well, but certainly has the metal to get more
serious tasks done, should they need doing. It
also excelled at penetration tests on 5cm thick felt
pads which I use as targets for my compound bow. It
got well into the target, almost as deep as my
carbon arrows which penetrate a fraction more,
despite coming out of a 75lb weight compound
bow. However I did feel that as combat blade ,
the tip could have been a little thicker for prying
tasks, yet with that comes reduced penetration
efficiency so its a hard call.
The handle and sheath system was easy to deploy and
use even with three pairs of gloves on, the handle
slabs insulated my hands well enough when not
wearing gloves. The only other major recommendation
I though of was a longer finger guard and perhaps a
double guard for further hand protection in extreme
thrust and slash cuts, this was seconded by father
and uncle who both served extensively in Angola and
Rhodesia with the South African Army.
Ive included some pics of the knife, including a
few of it buried in the Khumbu Icefall at Everest
Base Camp, surrounded by the iconic summit tents and
standing on the ice flow at the foot of Mt Ama
Dablam.
Im fairly certain it is now officially the highest
a CKC has ever been carried? It was a pleasure to
take with me and Im very sad to part with it having
had it with me for so long in such an extreme place.
Great knife Kyley
Cheers
Matt
