How To Order a Knife
|
MAKE AN ORDER PRICING Pricing Set Per Batch INFORMATION Firstly, I am not a full-time knifemaker. Its a sideline hobby. I am not a production company that can spit out 100 knives per week. My knives are limited and rare by nature because of the sheer fact that I make them, and I can only make them in limited quantities. When you buy cKc you are buying into my knife faith, and my lifes-work. I'll treat you like a friend, not a customer. I do have a large number of designs that I feel all contribute valuable and seperate needs to knife users. When one design enhances another to the point where I feel the original is no longer required then I remove it from my list. I do not take orders for knives except for a few select models that are pre-done blanks and always available. Currently the cKc Belt Knife (produced by Svord) are the only knife that can be ordered at any time. All other knives are generally made in batches. The reason I cannot take orders for individual models is because this would make the prices of the knives jump dramatically because of the increased cost related to doing individual jobs. I do small batches of knives at a time. I pick steel based on what is currently available, and given that steel and thickness I'll make a range of knives in a batch that I feel will work well for the steel and thickness. I can then efficiently plan the use of steel, and heat-treating and waterjet cutting to minimize wastage and excess costs. This lets me keep my prices down around similar High End production knife costs, even though I'm only making 10 or 20, not 200 or 300. Economy of Scale plays a huge part in knife cost. My knives are not what some people call pretty. To keep the price even close to affordable, compared with other handmade blades I keep my blades in "User Finish" not "collector finish" I make them to work well, not stand at parade. What you get for your money in my opinion is the highest quality materials, and designs and knives that function well above the average expectations of a knife. |
