Firstly I want to thank all my friends and
supporters who have helped me along the way. Doing all the videos for
youtube
and making all the knives and trying to acheive everything I try to
acheive is a very demanding task
when I also have a day-job and family to
consider.
Sometimes success can be a blessing. sometimes
it can feel a curse.
cKc has not been engineered as a business, but as an
evolving passion and hobby.
Nothing I have done so far has been geared or
priced towards profitability.
In business there is a primary question one must consider when starting a venture:
Could I pay someone else to do this work, and make a profit from it?
This is an important question. No matter how
good your idea is. if you are not charging enough money
to allow you to hire
on a skilled person to do your work for you, and pay them a
good wage, then
your plan is guaranteed to fail. You then also have to access
if you are getting enough to pay
for the upkeep of the tools and machines you
need.
Well. Unfortunately at cKc the answer to all of the above questions is a resounding NO.
I could never pay someone a fair wage for what
I've been doing in this project without making a huge loss.
I've been doing
what I do to grow my skills, and to provide to a niche market of people that
want quality at a
budget cost.
I really cannot keep doing this, even though I
would love to.
This is my passion, but not my families. This passion is
consuming me, and leaving no time for any other
things to fill my time.
I have only 2 choices in this matter. Increase Prices, and ask for Help from
my friends.
Increasing Prices will at a minimum slow down
people wanting my work, (which gives me time)
or at least makes the passion
worth something to my family.
Donations. The knifemaking is consuming
everything. All my money is going into tools and increasing what I can
provide to you, my supporters and friends. This has left me no money for my
personal collection and enhancement of my
knife love. I'd sure love to start
increasing my personal collection joy also.
Any Donations giving to the cKc Research and
Development Fund go directly back into cKc via Tools, Equipment,
or enhancing
my collection which allows me to enjoy the task, and also research the other
fine tools in life.
So with Gratitude and Thanks to you All.
Lets make 2011 a fantasic Year.
